Worldwide prevalence of adverse pregnancy outcomes among singleton pregnancies after in vitro fertilization

Worldwide prevalence of adverse pregnancy outcomes among singleton pregnancies after in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection: a systematic review and meta-analysis

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27896474

Purpose:
This review aims to provide a comprehensive estimation of the global prevalence of adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs) in singleton pregnancies resulting from in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). While some data suggest varying prevalence rates, a complete worldwide overview is currently lacking.

Conclusions:
IVF/ICSI singleton pregnancies exhibit a higher prevalence of adverse perinatal outcomes compared to naturally conceived pregnancies. Furthermore, significant geographical differences have been identified. However, to ascertain the exact perinatal prevalence, there is a pressing need for population-wide prospective APO registries that cover IVF/ICSI pregnancies across the entire world population.
